The calculation used for creating a blastocyst score for QC purposes is not based upon any published criteria (because there is no published material). Rather it uses the primary criteria outlined by Gardner for embryo stage, inner cell mass and trophectoderm development to generate a score. The score is calculated by allocating a value between 1-10 for the various stages of blastocyst formation and * by 5. To this value, additional values for the inner cell mass and for the trophectoderm are added to produced a calculate score. The maximium score is 100. This score is used for QC purposes. |
