EQA & Proficiency Modules
ANDROLOGY

SPERM MORPHOLOGY. Slide Show of images of stained human spematozoa for various samples containing more than 200 spermatozoa. Participants are asked to estimate the % normal forms according to WHO 1999 or WHO 2010 (or variations of strict criteria). Educational accompanying modules are available to encourage additional training.
SPERM MOTILITY. One or more videos of motile spermatozoa. Participants are asked to estimate the % total motility and progressive motility
SPERM CONCENTRATION Slide show containing images of either Haemocytometer or MAKLER Chamber. PArticipants are asked to estimate the sperm concentration
ANTISPERM ANTIBODY - Video assessment of grading performance
HALOSPERM EQA. Slide Show contains images of prepared semen samples prepared for DNA Fragmentation assessment.

SPERM DNA FRAGMENTATION EQA. [Australia ONLY]. Frozen Semen Samples for Live DNA Fragmentation assessment by SCSA,TUNEL,Halosperm and other approved methods. Contact FertAid to develop a local scheme.

TERATOZOOSPERMIC INDEX (TZI). Slide Show of stained semen samples are assessed for the TZI index. The abnormality index is a specialised parameter and this EQA allows for the standardisation of staff who preform this text.

SPERM VITALITY EQA . Slide Show of stained semen samples are assessed for Sperm Vitality.

AUTOMATIC SEMEN ANALYSIS EQA. Initally based upon MicoOptics Process, the EQA provides a ZIPPED download AVI file that can be loaded and played on a local machine. The results are then submitted online and compared to a MicrOptics PEER reference values.

EMBRYOLOGY

OOOCYTES EQA. An EQA Scheme to assess the visual skills in describing oocyte quality. FertAid uses the common parameters of size, polor body, zona pellucida and inclusions to calculate an oocyte grading score for review.

PRONUCLEAR DAY 1 An EQA Scheme to assess the visual skills in describing Pronuclear quality. FertAid uses the parameters used by Scott and others to calculate an Day 1 embryo grading score for review.

EARLY CLEAVAGE STAGE EMBROLOGY (Days 2-3) EQA. FertAid shows a slide show of several planes through an day 2 or day 3 cleavage stage embryo and using cell number, fragmentation, quality and cleavage rates to calculate an embryo score for review.

EMBRYO FRAGMENTATION EQA. FertAid shows a slideshow of several planes through an embryo and asks for the % Fragmentation and the patten of fragmentation.

BLASTOCYST EQA. FertAid shows a slide show of several planes through an day 5 blastocysts embryo and using Gardners scoring system plus others prameters to calculate an blastocyst score for review.

EMBRYO RANKING (Oocytes to Blastocysts) EQA. Probably the most important of all the EQA Schemes. FertAid shows between 4 and 9 embryos ( or oocytes) and asks the participant to rank them in order of quality. Comparing each response to the average selection, FertAid calculates a ranking index depicting how close one is the most popular rankings. FertAid has linked this to an Ranking challenge to see who is the "Best" Embryo Ranker each year.

TIME-LAPSE EMBRYO ASSESSMENT EQA. Similar to the blastocyst EQA, the images in this EQA is a time-lapse video from which the participant is asked to identify certain key develomental stages and to grade the blastocyst

TIME-LAPSE EMBRYO RANKING EQA. Similar to the Ranking EQA schemes, the participants are asked to rank 4 embryos according to the time-lapse parameters they use.

ULTRASOUND

FOLLICE DIAMETER EQA Fertaid displays a slid show of section through one follicle in an ovary and asks the participant to select the frame that best show the maximium diameter and then using screen tools ask them to identify the edges of the follicle from which the diameter is calculated. Very Nifty!

ENDOMETRIAL THICKNESS EQA. Fertaid displays a slid show of section through the uterusn asks the participant to select the frame that best show the maximium diameter and then using screen tools ask them the identify the edges of the Endometrium from which the Thickness is calculated. Also Very Nifty!
